Vaulation Rolls

Post by Jamboesque » Tue Jun 21, 2011 11:12 am

I was under the impression that Scotland’s People website were going to start making the Valuation Rolls available on line, at least according to the latest (16th) User Group Meeting minutes (Item 6)

Does anyone have a timescale when these might become available, an idea of the price would also be a boon, just to let me know if I have to re-mortgage the house, rob a bank, sell a kidney, or some such to pay for searching/images.

A couple of the lines in my families have property and or farms in the Dundee & Angus areas and the Rolls will give further insights into their activity. I used to nip into the National Archives at the back of the Scotlandspeople Centre, but I've changed jobs to a more standard office hours system and it is certainly not more convenient.
I'd like to be apathetic but I really can't be bothered.

Looking for blacksheep & not finding any with
Groats & Stevensons in Orkney, Hood's in Dundee/Angus, Mclaren's in Clackmannan and Jolly's in Kincardineshire. There may be more!

Hi,

You may be able to find some info on the property at this site
http://www.whoownsscotland.org.uk/index.php although not all areas are covered.

Hi Jamboesque,

The Valuation Roll project is progressing at SP. There is no date given yet.

All the best,

Thanks for that, Andrew

I imagine it's not an inconsiderable task.

A few more months to save then.

Jack
