GROS Annual Report

Post by DavidWW » Thu Mar 02, 2006 6:51 pm

As with many such organisations, the annual report for GROS is published in November or December, on the basis that the UK government fiscal year ends on 5th April. The full report can readily be viewed on the GROS website at http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/abotgros ... -2005.html

GROS's annual report for 2004/2005 is fascinating in that it reports that the income, - not clear if net or gross, - from ScotlandsPeople was in excess of £1.7m.

That's on top of "in excess of £1m" for the 2003/2004 fiscal year.

It's far from clear if these figures take into account greatly increased income from orders for £8 BMD register "extracts", - I think not !!

Sooooo.. taking into account the GROS income from ScotlandsPeople, and Scots Origins before that, it would appear to me that this income alone has more than paid of the costs of the whole DIGROS Project, despite the fact that it was always the case that GROS had their own reasons for launching the DIGROS project and partially funding it from other sources.

Also note, quite remarkable in fact, is that, in fiscal 2004/2005, GROS underspent their over £7m expenditure budget by over £1.4m :!: :!: :!:

It could have been neat if this underspend could have been used to ensure better delivery of long since promised new data on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk , or am I being overly cynical :?: :!:

I think you are being remarkably calm considering you were about to blow a steam valve a couple of weeks ago !

I was pleased to see that they had a £50,000 overspend on hospitality. Was that to sedate you with the water of life at the last meeting or does that come from yet another budget?

Russell

P.S. My wife has taken to screaming 1851 at the screen everytime we're on scotlandspeople. Would you recommend that she starts drinking too ?

I get that way sometimes, expecially in situations where there have been repeated discussions over a period of several years of the need to provide realistic dates, and repeated, vehement guarantees that all such future release dates will be realistic and will be met :!:

I'm now of the opinion that there should no longer be any dates, just the entry "Planned".
