Hello. I have a Mary Perkins who married a Hanshaw Dow 18/10/1859.
When I look at Mary's Death Cert in 1903 her parents are listed as Alexander Perkins & Elizabeth Aitken. However, when Hanshaw & Mary married Oct. 18, 1859
her parents were listed as Alexander Perkins and Isabella Mcdonald. Further observation of Henshaw Dow's parents has his father as Archibald Dow and ,interestingly his mother is listed as Elizabeth Aitken.

The old story a death certificate's information is only as good as the person who informed .

If it was a son then it would be reasonably easy to muddle your grandmothers' names up - after all you only know them as 'Granny Married-Surname'
