Hi All
I had been trying for over a year to find my Kay GGGrandfather William Kay and his two daughters Catherine & Elizabeth on the 1851 Census for Denny, on SP and later on AncestryUK. I had assumed that William had died, but the two daughters showed up on the 1861 Census. I mentioned this on another post. I got lucky when Gina found them all listed under HAY on Ancestry. I looked for them under HAY on SP and found them there also. They had not been abducted by Aliens after all. They were only indexed incorrectly. The person who filled in the Census had a way of writing his K look very much like an H at first glance, but it was definitely a K he wrote not an H. He made his H, as for Head differently.
I notified SP, who sent me to Gros with this information. They have refunded me some credits, and have informed me that they will correct the indexing.
Thank you Gros, Gina and SP

Hi Sheila,
GROS and SP are always glad to receive corrections. Added together, they make the indexes of GROS and SP more accurate. As updating the indexes is a major upheaval for SP, it is not done often, so it is likely to be some time before the correction is seen online, but it will be on the way.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi Andrew
They did inform me that the updating will not take place immediately.
One of the good things about having 3 different indexes to look through, SP, Ancestry and FreeCen, is that hopefully one of them will be correctly indexed. The problem with my Kays, is that both SP and Ancestry.uk had them indexed under H and not K. Freecen doesn't have anything yet for Stirlingshire.
Cheers
