Just typical, I can't find the photo now. As far as I know there was no other insignia other than the Lt Pips and that he was in a Kilt so it was a Scottish Regiment, so it may be harder trying to ID him.

Thanks again.

Andy
It depends.

Can the sporran be seen?, as these differ between the kilted regiments.

Hi Andy

It may not have been a Scottish regiment,
Liverpool Scottish and London Scottish along with canadian Highlanders spring to mind, although during conflict if he had specific skills he may have been used as a casualty replacement, he would most probably have kept his own uniform, given the information you have given us so far that he was an acting Company Quartermaster Sargant makes me think he enlisted long before the start of the second world war it may have been as is now that his commision was a natural progression in his army carreer(just a thought)

Righty-o found it after plenty of searching. Not much to go on to be honest.

There's more than enough to go on. He's Black Watch - That's a red hackle in his Balmoral bonnet. The tartan is Government.

That may help narrow it down a bit.

Thanks

Thanks Adam, is there any way I can take this further at the moment other than the gazette?

The photo is backed onto a thick piece of cardboard but I have an inkling that something may be written on the back but I do not want to ruin it in any way

Hi Andy

You could try contacting the archivist at Balhousie Castle in Perth.
The castle is the regimental museum and HQ of the BlackWatch
