Medal Card Prices Reduced.
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/docu ... medals.asp

I’m making this announcement on behalf of the National Archives. They seem to have forgotten to issue a Press Release.

Medal Card prices have been reduced from £3.50 to £2.00.

They don’t say why the price has been reduced, perhaps it’s something to do with the higher quality double sided ones being offered elsewhere for effectively very much less.

I realise that the cost of these poor soldier’s uniforms have to be paid for but couldn’t we have some sort of special consideration here that would compensate them and their families in a very minor way for the pain and suffering and sacrifice and so on.

Come on National Archives, show a bit of compassion and respect and make it all free. You can do it if you really try, just like you’ve done for Private Albert E Blood, and a wonderful choice I must say.

Alan

I seem to remember that the price was reduced a short while back, around the time the cards became available elsewhere in colour and showing both sides of the card - these are free if you can access that particular web site through your local library!

Best wishes
Lesley

the "Other" set of medal index cards that are in colour and filmed on both sides are not complete however. the majority of cards are from WO372 and include the basic medals a soldier would have been entitled to such and the 1914 or the 1914/1915 Star, The Victory medal, British War Medal and so on. Other medals such as Military Medal are in WO 372 and are not at this time online .There is still 1 more release to this collection so hopefully this will be the Medals from WO372.
