According to this site the O27 had been based in the Netherlands as part of the Royal Netherlands Navy since Feb. 46 so the crew would have been all Dutch by the time she visited the UK in Nov-Dec 1946.

During the War she had been used by the Germans as U-D5 and only returned to Dutch service in 1945. She was going to be scuttled along with other U-Boats but was recognised as a pre-war Dutch sub and returned to them at Dundee in May 1945.

Hello BruceL,

There’s a bit of discussion about O 27 on this Forum. If there’s anything else you need to know maybe they could help. http://www.dutchfleet.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14511

Near the top of this document next to the Officer with the microphone there’s something about Dundee and Dutch submarine sailors marrying Scottish girls in 1942? And two thirds of the way down references to O 27 and Dundee. It’s all in Dutch but could it be relevant to your enquiry? http://www.klaarvooronderwater.nl/kvo/Kvo-86.pdf
