78th Highlanders- Thomas Connell

Post by SuMacd » Fri Jul 02, 2010 6:10 pm

According to the Chelsea Pensioners Records on findmypast.com Thomas signed up to the 78th in Cork, Ireland in 1845 & requested a discharge in April 1866 after 21 years service.
At the bottom of his discharge documents there appears to be some dispute about his pension with several references to letters;
Does anybody know if I can access these documents anywhere as my knowledge of military research is limited?

Thanks
Susan

Hi Susan
If memory serves me right, I think the most likely place for these records woudl be the National Archives in Kew, London. Have you tried a search on their web site, to see if any likely looking documents turn up?

Best wishes
Lesley
