Question ?.....

Post by Wee Ina » Sat Feb 25, 2006 2:21 am

I have been sent a picture and i need to identify the uniform to date the picture as im not sure if the pic is of my Grt Grampa or the one before that. Would it be possible to upload it to the gallery for people to look at and maybe help ?

I was reading through the rules etc and i wasnt really sure if pics were allowed. If i am allowed should it be a jpeg ?

Many thanks

Hi Ina,

No problem with a picture as you describe. JPG is a good format for a picture (but not so good had it been a certificate you were wainting to upload). The only limitation can be the file size. Have a go at uploading it. If it fails to upload, let me know and I will see if I can find why.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

I'm assuming that you have the original photo.

It may be possible to identify the regiment from the cap badge, but I'll need a better quality image. If you can, scan it at 300 dpi, and as long as the file size is less than 10Mb, you can email it to me at 106200.1510@compuserve.com . If I can't identify it, I know someone who probably can!

David,

I have one very similar to Ina's of my Grandfather and I am unsure what the uniform represents. The sporran looks like the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, but my mother believes he was a Reserve, rather than enlisted. Would you be able to help me on this one too please?

Cheers

See my email above :!: , but it all depends on factors such as the visibility of things such as badges, and the detail of dress such as the sporran......

Send me the image that you have anyway, - as a print might give up its secret with a magnifying glass.........

Hello David,

I have now emailed you the picture directly.

Anything you can suggest is better than nothing but if it is nothing I completely understand.

Many thanks
