I wish to obtain the service records of my husband's great uncle who died in Burma in 1943. I have looked at the CWGC website and the link there says you need permission from the immediate family. None of his brothers and sisters are still alive how do I provide permission?
Thanks as always,
Annie

Annie
You need to provide some information at least that indicates that you are the surviving next-of-kin.
One of the two forms that needs to be submitted is "Request for Service Details of a deceased Ex-Serviceman/Woman - Certificate of Kinship".
The form starts off by stating "Information from the personal record of a deceased Ex-Serviceman/woman can be released only with the consent of the official Next of Kin. This form aimsto identify whose consent is required andthe data you provide will be used only in connection with your enquiry". No specific evidence is requested, just the signed declaration.
If the serviceman/woman died after discharge from service a copy of the death certificate is required.
The form then goes on to ask for a specification of the relationship from a list of relatives, starting with Widow/Widower, and continuing via Son/Daughter, Grnadchild, Father/Mother, Brother/Sister, Nephew/Niece, ... ending with Other.
If the person applying is not the official Next of Kin the form requires that the written authority of that person is obtained and included with the application.
