Soldier from England with surname of Bullimore

Post by jude1963 » Tue May 15, 2007 9:48 am

Hi fellow researchers. I looking for information about a William Blamiers who was born in England.
In the 1871 Scottish census he was a soldier aged 23 at the Preishill Barracks Edinburgh. His occupation is listed as armourer asst. and he is in the ED 13th Regiment. The Registration Number is 692/2 and the county is Midlothian.
I have been unable to find the original census image. I am hoping that his name is in fact William Bullimore (my gt grandfather)and that he is the father of Elizabeth Charlotte Bullimore born out of wedlock in Midlothian in 1876. (Elizabeth's mother's name was Susan). If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Hi Jude

The only place online to view the original census images is through www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk which is pay per view using a credit system. Your William is indexed there just as you've found him elsewhere:

1871 BLAMIERS WILLIAM M 23 LEITH SOUTH EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN 692/02 057/02 002

If his name truly were Bullimore then the enumerator certainly didn't do it justice. It's quite clearly written as indexed.

Best wishes
Jean
