Hi,
I've uploaded a minor record which contains what may be info on an ancestor. Charles Mulheron born 1889 would appear to be the one aged 26 on the record.

I do have a 1901 census for a Charles aged 12; an his other info is correct for siblings and parents. I don't know how to find out if they are one in the same.
I also have a brother of his named Francis who died in 1922 an Army Pensioner.

Hi Dennis,
Another clue can be taken from his record in the Scottish National War Memorial.
http://www.snwm.org
His record there gives his birthplace as Glasgow. Does that co-incide with the birth record you have found?
Surname: MULHERON
Firstname: C
Service Number: 13733
Date Death: 25/09/1915
Place of birth: Glasgow
Other: 10th Bn.
SNWM roll: THE CAMERONIANS (SCOTTISH RIFLES)
Rank: Pte
Theatre of death: France
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi Dennis
There appears to be a medal card for him on the National Archives site:
Medal card of Mulheron, Charles
Corps: Scottish Rifles
Regiment No: 13733
Rank: Private
1914-1920 WO 372/14
Although as far as I'm aware, from the medal cards I've seen, this may not help pinpoint your man any further.

Note that the medal card images are of the front of the card, and don't include the backof the card, - there's an outside chance of additional info, including an address, on the back of the card, - but you'll have to visit TNA or get someone to do that for you.
Unfortunately the Commonwealth Graves Commission site has no details on next of kin.
Lastly, I seem to remember that a Glasgow newspaper, The Herald, prepared a listing of all WW casualties.
David
Later edit: spelling and newspaper name !!

And he is there:During the First World War, the Evening Times newspaper printed short biographies of service personnel who were reported lost, missing or wounded.
Most of these biographies were accompanied by a photograph of these long-gone heroes, often now the only one that exists.
The Mitchell has produced an index to some 6,500 of these entries as a valuable addition to their Family History resources. This list is available to view in PDF format.
...The Evening Times is held on microfilm in Archives and Special Collections.

I'd be disappointed if such a biography doesn't include next-of-kin info.LesleyB wrote:Index to Evening Times roll of honour is here:
