I had some correspondance a while ago from a lady in Australia who had a relative either her father or her grandfather who was head of this establishment.
I am sure that she answered a query for me on the Rootsweb Glasgow Mailing list
I'll try and find her email address for you

I have found the email address for the lady whose grandfather worked at St. Mary's in Bishopbriggs. I'll ask her if it is OK to pass it on

Hya the address you're after was St Marys boys school Kenmure Ave Bishopbriggs Glasgow. I was there from 1961-1962 18 months , that was the address then hope this helps for whatever you need it for. I know it closed down but dont know when.
There is a remand centre or approved school very near-by which took over from St Mhis could be a secure unit as opposed to the oppeness that St Marys was. Anyway if I can help you in anyway just let me know. Thank you. piperdanny123 :)

Thanks for the reply to my query on St Marys, the industrial school were my relative died was St marys Calton, she was buried at St Marys ,and a few years ago the remains were removed to make way for flats, there is little or no information on this school.Iwould be most grateful for any info on this school in the 1800s

Hello Maceill,

Is it the same as “St. Mary's Roman Catholic Orphanage and Industrial School for Boys and Girls, 72, Abercromby Street, Glasgow.” As mentioned here: http://www.workhouses.org.uk/IS/Scotland.shtml

What part of the 19th Century are you interested in? What year or period of years and was it for a boy or a girl. You could include the child's full name if you wish.
