following Sally's information on a possible sighting in the 1851 census for Mary Oliver and her children of Elizabeth,Robert,Archibald,samuel&William(previous posting under census -mary oliver & her children in 1851)
can anyone please have a look for a possible poor relief application
for Mary Clifort in rothesay.
the info on sp for the 1851 reads as follows
Mary Clifort head W age 40 pauper formerly servant Renfrewshire Johnston.
Elizabeth daur u 16 power loom weaver cotton Ayrshire Irvine
Robert son u 14 cotton picker? Buteshire Cumbrae
Archibald son 12 scholar Buteshire Cumbrae
Samuel son 10 scholar Buteshire Cumbrae
John A son 3 Buteshire Rothesay

Sorry Maggie, there is no poorhouse application for Mary Clifford /Clifort or Galbraith.

I had a look at the 1851 index while at The Mitchell and their names are indexed as Clifford.

many thanks for trying for me
this woman had so many combinations of surname spelling
Galbraith/Galbreath Oliver Home/Holmes and now Clifort/Clifford
a poor relief record for her just would have been wonderfull ,but alas not to be...
