Hello Russell,

Tut Tut, ( not all vagrants, transients, tinkers, or other burdens on a parish were recorded. ) I take it your not a racist.

On Marion Martin, in 1851 census for Barrhead, she is 18 years old and a housekeeper in her parent's home, her two sister's were Power Loom Weaver's, I doubt very much if these looms were in the house.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hi Carmentea
As I am having trouble finding her, I was wondering if she might have moved to Glasgow or Edinburgh? Or were the mills concentrated in Neilston/Barrhead/Paisley area?
All ideas welcome, my head hurts from banging against this brick wall!
Does this mean you cracked, told your credit card to snap out if it, and now know she is NOT the 26yr old Marion Martin in Neilston? I can't bear the suspense!! Please put me out of my misery!

Best wishes
Lesley

Lesley
why should you feel awful? It was merely a possibility. How many times have we all ended up in a cul-de-sac and then lost the way back out?

I feel slightly offended that Jonn should even suggest I was even a tiny bit racist even if I did support Henrik Larsen the other night!!!

Jonn I was quoting an entry in a Old Parish Session minute where they were deciding whether to support some of people who 'were not of this parish'
It must have been heated discussion because a decision was held over until the next meeting.
For one census there was specific instruction to the enumerators about who should be included and it did not include those sleeping in outhouses and sheds.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Carmen
