Hi Alan. Sorry about the delay, but my computer has been acting up - memory problems.... Alzheimers? Finally got into the forum today.
Don't worry about the book, as I'm after a cheap copy for sale here - if I can get it I want to read it. I have been warned that it can be a bit inaccurate though, so I will check everything !

Re my gggrandfather again, I may not be sure of his status in 1841, but I have the report of his death, and by the time he died in 1889 he warranted a slap-up funeral with (even though he'd been retired for several years) a procession of the glassworks employees....everyone was there - except his widow.
