John Robert McColl Marriage Certificate.....

Post by Sobil » Tue Sep 20, 2005 5:36 am

Move over dithery mothers....

I'm back!

http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... p?pos=-237

I have uploaded the above (see gallery in "help with handwriting deciphering" - more by luck than design).

If anyone can tell me how this helps my cause I'd be grateful. (See "McColls of Kilmacolm" for the story so far)

Father is "James McColl" of somewhere in Scotland... unless James is a fib or a mistranslation!

The "Robert" bit only appears on his Death Certificate so maybe it was a pet name given by his Welsh wife. Bute Street was a Hostelry. It has always intrigued me that the wedding was September 1882 and the first child is born March 1885. I wonder if there was another child who died?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks Andy,

I knew that... It was my fault for not explaining. There are a couple of people on the site who hounded me to get hold of the bl**dy marriage certificate.

I'm waiting with baited breath to see if they can find any new leads from old information!

Hi Sobil,

Sorry, I've taken so long to answer, but i've been offline for a week courtesy of B.T. ...............

I can't seem to find any mention of Kilmacolm, dare I ask if your mother just wants to be part of the Kilmacolm Mc Colls? (running shoes now being put on).

Let me refresh my memory with this lot and I'll get back to you.

Thanks Ian,

My mothers assures me her wooden spoon wore out and she has no intention of replacing it..... so I put one on her!

She gave me an Elaine McColl who died young, Freebmd list her as born Hellen Charlotte and died Ellen Charlotte. Between the registrars, the transcribers and my mother I am having a fine time.

Divorced yet?
