Hello
can anyone please tell me what is a portioner ?
i have it on a death cert for 1858 and haven't a clue as to what it would mean

One description from a google search is....

Portioner - Owner of land, previously divided amongst co-heirs

Not that that explains a whole lot :roll: ......but may be some help.

thankyou both very much for your help in later records for his children he was recorded as a farmer so having a little bit of land would make sense.
