No site as such.

You need to establish first which of the 8 current police forces covers your area of interest.

See http://www.police-information.co.uk/pol ... tland.html for the details (noting BTW that the Met in London were not, as they and others often claim, the first such police force in the UK, - that was the Glasgow force, and there were another 11 such forces founded in Scotland before the Met came into existence.)

Then contact the archivist at the HQ location given to see what guidance they can give on extant records that they hold. It's also worthwhile contacting the main archive in the area matching that of the current police force, as well as local archives matching your town of interest. See the the "Libraries" tab on the home page here.

Lasltly, an email to the FHS covering your area of interest wouldn't go amiss, - see Societies tab on the home page here, - some will only help members, but, for the minimal membership fee involved, that can be a good investment.

I got an obituary on here http://www.lightage.demon.co.uk/index.htm which helped to fill out a few details and gave me the date of death. There's a small charge

Dunn Fife /ML
Coutts, McGregor - Perth/Govan
Glen, Crow, Imrie - Angus
Scott & Pick ML
