Registrations of death, Births and Marriages During Covid-19

Post by WilmaM » Sat Mar 28, 2020 3:54 pm

There has been Emergency Laws etc passed to deal with all aspects of life in Scotland during this pandemic of 2020.

Thankfully a remote registration system for deaths has now been set up involving no personal contact as the Registrars Offices are all closed.
It will mean that in the future you won't see the informants 'real' signature.

At present there are no formal registrations of Births.

Marriages too are not taking place, except in exceptional circumstances.
Gatherings of more than 2 people from outside the same household are banned so it's obviously impossible to get bride, groom, officiant and 2 witnesses together!

More information is here: https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/registrat ... ng-a-death

This will make searching for future generations a bit more interesting!

Stay Safe Everyone, and Stay Inside if you can.
