Hellfire and Herring

I´ve just finished a marvelous book: "Hellfire and Herring" from the Fife author Christopher Rush.
Brought up in the port of St. Monans, he shares with the reader the joys and yes, not so grand moments of life among the fishermen and others of the town.
Life also moves inland at times.
I have seldom read a book which shows so well a world regretfully gone, but with humour and total lack of sentimentalism.

Much recommended.
