Essential MacMillan books

Post by Ann In the UK » Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:07 am

I'd recommend anyone interested in the MacMillan's, or any of the local families/clans of and around Locahaber and Knapdale, should seek out copies of these books:

'The MacMillans and their Septs', 'Bygone Lochaber', and, 'Families of Knapdale' all by [Rev.] Somerled MacMillan.

They're getting rarer (all out of print now) and consequently they're likely to be expensive, but well worth every penny for interested parties.

Hello Ann,

A couple of other MacMillan items by the same author.

The Emigration of Lochaber MacMillans to Canada in 1802‎
by Somerled MacMillan - 1958 - 13 pages

The Clan MacMillan Magazine of North America
by Somerled MacMillan - 1958

Some of his books are available from AbeBooks (search for the author’s name) and no doubt elsewhere. There’s even a CD-ROM version of one. http://www.abebooks.co.uk/

All the best,
Alan

Thanks Alan. I'm pretty sure some of my McMillans ended up on distant shores, so these may come in handy at some point.
