Question regarding naming conventions...

I have seen ,somewhere on the internet, copies of Kirk sessions where they are giving some poor woman a hard time! Can't remember where I saw this though - any suggestions would be welcome as I am a long way from Edinburgh.

Pretty sure what the 'circumstances' were - son of landed gentry and his fathers young, innocent, domestic servant - need I say more!! She is never seen again and child is brought up by grandparents. Sad but true!

In the OPR record of her birth it is recorded thus 'xx & yy in z had an illegal daughter'.

If you can give us some names, dates and places we may be able to help point you in the right direction.
