Gourock it is, I'd think from the troop ship article.

It is interesting stuff and with 15,000 others on board there had to be someone else out there who made the same trip. My Dad went to boot camp and radio school in Florida like the man in the Morse Code article.

I thought my Dad's comment on not being able to make a Scotsman sick at sea was interesting too. On the page before the one I posted, he was talking about most of the soldiers being seasick, but not him. He never missed a meal and enjoyed the trip on the Queen Mary! I sure didn't take after him in that way. I've had problems with motion sickness since the car trip home from the hospital after I was born!

Gourock it is. It even looks like Gourock I think. I notice he refers to himself as a Scotchman, interesting that that usage did not raise the hackles then that it does now.
