Hi Anne,

Thanks for that. I am in Cornwall but a year ago I was living on the Isle of Wight where I was born and bred!

It's a really long story but my Grandad is from Bellshill, Lanark and it is him and his family I am trying to trace. I will post a thread and see what comes up but belive me it's a tricky one. I have never met my family or been to Scotland both top of my dream list.

Hi again Claire

Tricky ones are the best. Could it match one I had for a Campbell friend when it turned out that his grandfather seemed to have 3 different names by the time he was 11 (ultimately Campbell), had a bigamous marriage and subsequently disappeared off the radar without trace??

The SW of England is lovely and I envy you the weather when you're not having storms or floods of course.

The grandfather's name wasn't Thomas by any chance?
