Probably Merilynm,

the Isle of Harris is the southern portion of the joint islands of Lewis & Harris. If you've traced your ancestors back to Harris then the person you need to contact is Bill Lawson, who has done lots of work on the genealogy of the Outer Hebrides. Try www.billlawson.com (3 Ls!) & follow the genealogy link. At the bottom of that link is the email address for genealogy enquiries.
