Hello Gary,

Sorry for confusion.

Here is your Lizzie and family (including 2 brothers) in 1891 -

1891
23 Castle Street, Hamilton

John Devine 30 born Hamilton
Lizzie Devine 26 born Ireland
Thomas Devine 7
Kate Devine 4
John Devine 2
Mary Divine 4 MO
Thomas Daizzley 23 Bi (brother in law)
James Daizzley 19 Bi (brother in law)

Thomas Mullen 23
Kate Kennedy 19

I found this family who appear to be a William Deaslay and Catherine (Kate) Bonar in 1881 and thought it too much of a coincidence to ignore although the ages of James and Thomas are a bit out as I think they could be Lizzie's parents and siblings.

1881
74 Castle Street, Hamilton

William Deasley 50
Kate Deasley 45
William Colquhoun 60
Thomas Deasley 16
Ann Deasley 14
James Deasley 12

All born Ireland.

Did you look at the marriage entry of John Devine and Lizzie Deaslay?

Regards,
Annette

Glad we got a result Gary! :D

Hopefully Lizzie gives her mother's name as Bonar and you now know who your gg grandparents are too.

If it is then the family come from Donegal - here are some of the children indexed at the IGI -

Father: William Deaslay, Mother: Catherine Bonar

1. MARY ANNE DEASLEY - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 21 JUL 1868 , Donegal, Ireland
2. HUGH DEASLEY - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 09 DEC 1866 0353, Raphoe, Donegal, Ireland
3. THOMAS DEASLEY - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 21 JUL 1865 0363, Raphoe, Donegal, Ireland
4. JAMES DEASLEY - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 04 JUL 1870 , Donegal, Ireland

I got the info by doing a parent search (father's and mother's names in appropriate boxes) at http://www.familysearch.org - click on 'go to the old site'.

I see Andrew and Sarah have been giving you some sound advice and Andrew has also written a topic about the site I've just given you - viewtopic.php?f=39&t=10332

Unfortunately there are not many Irish records indexed but more are being added all the time to the new site.

I don't know where your aunt lives but Irene O'Brien, the head archivist at The Mitchell Library, is doing a talk on researching your Irish Ancestors tomorrow at 2.30pm at Govanill Library in Glasgow. If she's interested and can make it she can just go along.

It lovely seeing somebody so young getting excited about their family history - keep up the good work and take it slow and easy, after all they're not going anywhere. :D

Best wishes,
Annette

i must apologize nelmit :) i was reading this over and i have just found out that john and lizzie had a daughter called catherine which i knew nothing about. these ages from john at the top to mary divine are all th right age if i compare them to certs i have. it is an amazing discovery to find this i dont no who the kennedy girl is but i doubt she is related to me but it would be interetsing to no why she was there with them and thomas mullen as you might no MULLEN is the second name of johns mother so it could be an uncle but its just the age and the two brother in laws are probably right two :D thank you so much it makes more sense now all i have to do is look up the little john devine aged 2 (had no idea about him either hehehe). again i thank you and everyone who has helped me :D. i dont want to seem pushy but would you beable to look up john for me i have just ran out of credits looking for his sisters death catherine i think he died young but im not sure but when i look up births in hamilton for john devine between 1885-1895 3 people come up and then on deaths for john devin 1885-1895 i think 2 names come up :) if not i am still very truely greatful for your help. :D
