Hi Lesley,
the Muiryfauld Drive and the St. Mark's Street are one and the same.
Sorry, I can't help with the priest.

Hi Jane and Cathy
Thanks for your replies.

Cathy - I did think 3 Catholic churches all called St Marks in Glasgow was proving it was a pretty popular name - 2 seems a bit more reasonable!

Jane - interesting to hear that Rev. Robert Stewart was around in 1859 - this possibly means he may just about have been there to christen James in 1857. I believe that most marriages did NOT take place in churches back then, there was a post concerning this very subject not so long ago. If I find it I'll paste the link in here.
Ha! Got it!

Hello again Lesley,

Thanks for the link to the post about our ancestors not usually getting married in churches. I remember reading it recently, and agreeing that most certs I was viewing had the couple marrying in the bride's home.

Have you tried a search for Robert Stewart in Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae ? His biography might help answer your questions. I have never used this resource myself, and am not even sure it would be available in a library here in Ottawa, but I have read that it can be found in most libraries in Scotland.

Jane

Hi David
I don't know - I only had a quick look for Rev. Robert Stewart and although there are Rev. Stewarts the one I was looking for does not appear to be there.

The blurb on the site is not exactly clear - I'm not sure all the contents of the Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae is there... that was kinda why I said "seems to be on-line" cos I wan't sure it if was the whole thing or only a small part of it or what - I suspect it is not complete though from what the blurb says:
"here are two volumes for you to browse"
but there appear to be more volumes in total than that - seven by the looks of things. So apologies if, in my haste, I've misled anyone - looks like the link only leads to a smallish "taster" proportion of the contents.

Best wishes
Lesley
