Thank you to both of you! James Leys ~ George's father is the brother of my great great great grandmother ~ Jean Leys. I am still looking for her marriage record although I do know she was christened in Glenmuick in 1800. She died in Canada ... as the Stewart family (heer married name) emigrated there in the mid 1800's. Some of her Leys relations also went to North America. Her father was John Leys and her mother Janet McDougal.

Poor thing died of typhoid fever with heart failure at age 42.

The marriage cert (Oct 3 1888) has her name as Adelaide Louisa Arksey, age 40, spinster, born in East Williamsburg, Ontario, daughter of George and Harriet Arksey. She is with them on the 1881 census.

I know - from previously mentioned researcher - George Leys/Jane Skene had six children, all born @ Sarnia....Anne Isabella (1856) + Margaret (1858) + Helen (1862) + Jane (1864) + George William (1869-1872) + John Alexander (1870)
