Sally

Thanks so much for mentionning SCRAN. It will have a place in my favourite favourites! :D

Went for a browse.......when I should have been doing something else, like packing. Put in the name of my home town and had a marvellous walk down memory lane. Even found a picture of my parents, which I have no recollection of ever having seen before.

kind regards

Catriona

Fiona - YES ! The statue is of Hygeia , erected in memory of Miss Elizabeth Crombie Duthie in recognition of her gift to Aberdeen. Thank you SO much for the tip.
- Presumably the fountain was in Duthie park somewhere too .

Catriona, I'm delighted you found some goodies on scran - I was also lucky enough to find photos of my grandfather there ( not in Aberdeen though ! ) and some oral recordings on Eddleston which fascinated my mother, as she knew the speaker and most of the people being talked about.

Mallog, thanks for the compliment - just the encouragement I need to go on with the rest of this photo collection . Places are one thing though - will I ever know who the people in the photos ( excluding my grandfather) are ? That may take more than 3 months ....

Hi Sally
Duthie Park used to be a regular haunt for me while I was a permanently skint student in Aberdeen! In the nice weather we used to laze about outside - horrible days were spent in the Winter Gardens! Fond memories!

Have to say, grannysrock, when we saw them down the beach with so many clothes on we should have known it was Aberdeen. Reminds me of Billy Connolly and his knitted swimsuit.
