Hi Lesley..I have looked on FreeCen in the 1841/51 census no luck....
I have the marriage certificate for Thomas but all it says is born in Scotland and father is Robert, profession Gentleman.
Thanks

Hi Andrea
father is Robert, profession Gentleman
Sorry, just spotted his father's details in your first post!
At least when you do get online access to 1841 & 1851, if he is still around then he should be reasonably easy to spot!! Not many of them around....

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Andrea,
there is a fantastically (is that a word?) creepy Clan McNab cemetery
in Killin, Perthshire. If you ever get the chance to visit, you have to get the key from the Information Centre a few yards away.
Happy hunting.

Hi Cathy...I did visit there when I came back to live in the UK in the 80's for 6 years..and met The McNab in Killin...he was a very nice man, and it was exciting to think we are part of the McNabs. My grandmother(mothers side) whom I never met (died of the spanish flu in 1922) was a McNab. I am interested in the history of the clearances, as I think that may have been the time Thomas (my ggrandfather) moved to Liverpool. I wish one of them had said where in Scotland they came from.
Cheers and thanks
Andrea. :)
