Don't despair! I'm sure all will become clear (or at least somewhat less murky!) when the paper copy of the certificate arrives in the mail....Failing that, maybe some kind soul who's going to Park Circus, could take a look at the original certificate....(or have the originals from Martha St all gone to the National Archives, in Edinburgh, now?)

The Death Cert arrived in the post today and again its wasnt one of my McKays - typical.

But if anyone is looking for the Death of an Alexander Sutherland Mckay let me know and i will forward it to you.

Ahh, well!....Sometimes it only becomes clear that we were looking in the wrong place. At least you've eliminated a possibility.

If I had a dollar for every Alexander McKay up my tree I'd.... well I'd probably just spend it at SP..

I notice Tongue gets a mention on your (wrong) cert - that's where my lot came from. If that's Alexander's area and if you're still having trouble finding him, send me the details if you wish and I'd be happy to take a look at my disks.

Hi again

Tusker that is a very good idea - I thought i would go looking for Alexanders son again (Birth) after having spoken to my grampa who insists his both his fathers and grandfathers middle name was Punton. I must have bought 90+ credits on SP tonight looking for a William punton Mckay and i have dozens of William McKays that are definately not mine so i will sort them all this weekend and get them posted.

Mez i dont know where my lot actually came from all i have is williams marriage in the gorbals glasgow but i have come to the conclusion they were actually people that hated there real names and stole the first one they fancied.

Couldn't quite keep up with the post but have you looked at the death entry of an Elizabeth Porter / Leslie, who died in 1855, on SP in case it's her?
