Having fun reading these posts as I now know the area you are talking about they are not just places on a map anymore.
I think Russell had the right idea if possible to view the Records in situ-you get a feel for the area etc.
I love Caithness & when my train passes Tain I always have a wee greit for my Ross's who originated there & when I pull into Thurso I feel like I've come home-although thus far have found no ancestors who lived there-maybe because I'm coming to see my wee sister it feels like home.
