Hi poacher

So your sister has the actual birth certificate of your mother and the date of the parent's marriage is not listed on it??

You say the name is either Annie or Nancy......both of which can be pet names for Agnes. Which takes me back to the Marriage entry that Tracey found. How do you know for certain this is not them?? I mean....do you know their parents names???

I still think the quickest and best route is a trip to search in person as Lesley has indicatedl If you live outwith Scotland you may have to resort to hiring someone to research on your behalf. With that many siblings there is sure to be a wealth of information available.....it's just that it's not availabe on the internet.

Best wishes
Jean

The closest i have just seen is a marriage
1919 ROBERT JOHN JOHNSTON AGNES MURDIE CA BURNS BLYTHSWOOD GLASGOW CITY/LANARK
Nothing found under Johnstone with an e and Burns and dont know what the CA is after Murdie
Nothing on it, one strange thing we found out is that my mothers birth wasn't registered for 7 years!! Date of registration is June 1942 butshe was born in 1935(Jan 12).

Completely & utterly baffled :?

Hi Poacher
Maybe they wernt married ? Does the mothers name on the birth certificate say Annie (?) Johnstone miss Burns ?
Sorry to sound so basic but we all (me !) sometimes miss the obvious  :!:
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

No, the certificate clearly shows Annie Johnstone & father - Robert Johnstone (Plumber).

Hi Poacher
My grandmother's birth wasn't recorded at time of birth, it was quite a while after. turns out there were several around that time for the area that were also the same. I've never found out the reason why it happened.

Hi Poacher:

Can you, or your sister post the certificate or registration to the Gallery? Sometimes when you actually look at something, bells and whistles go off, which might lead to something.

Also, does the certificate or registration indicate that Annie and Robert actually signed the document, or did they make their mark? If they made their mark, it would likely indicate that they could not read at that time, so any errors in spelling the surnames, could have gone undetected.
