......snipped......Ain't that just life in general for anyone with an enquiring mind :!: \:D/
Uh-Huh - and thankfully, the stuff I've learned over the years almost (and I stress almost) outweighs the trouble it has got me into

The words cat and curiosity come to mind; Makes life so much more interesting tho :!:

So this site - might I be able to find out where the 5th did their stuff?

McDonald or MacDonald (some couldn't make up their mind!), Bonner, Crichton, McKillop, Campbell, Cameron, Gitrig (+other spellings), Clark, Sloan, Stewart, McCutcheon, Ireland (the surname)

\:D/ Whee-hee \:D/

Swapped the 014 part of the link to 005 and got it. Need to do a bit of calculation here and there, but it might help me to discover where some of the kids were born (listed in census, but no Scots or English births to be found).

David - you're a star :D

But of course :!:

http://www.regiments.org/deploy/uk/reg-inf/005-1.htm for the 1st Bn

and

http://www.regiments.org/deploy/uk/reg-inf/005-2.htm for the 2nd Bn

If you need the 3rd and 4th Bn, go to http://www.regiments.org/regiments/uk/i ... tm#history
