Thanks Andy,

I have a lot of work to do on the McMurrays so I appreciate your help.

I couldn't find Johns death on the scotlandspeople site and I don't really know what to do next.

I have to find out if his parents are George McMurray and Martha Barr. I did think that if I got his death notice then I would be able to find his parents.

You'll find Johns death cert in 1881 under McMurray in Govan - this confirms his parents were James McMurray & Elisabeth Millar.

Hi Tom,

You and everyone else have been brilliant in helping me in my search for the McMurray side of my tree. Now that I'm as far back as James McMurray born abt 1778 and married to Elisabeth Millar, how can I go back further? I suscribe to ancestry.com and also have spent a lot of money on scotlandspeople, but don't know what to do next. I would be glad of your advice.
