Hi Pandabean,

If you come across any suspicious posts the best thing to do is send an email to the AG.

Our AG members are in three different time zones, so you can usually catch one of us on the net.

Thanks for you replies.
As youall must realise I am not very computer literate and need your help when something like this arises.

You would think people would have more to do with their time than maliciously sending mesages.

Should I click on the link when I see what the topic is or just delete it if I don't recognise the Topic?

Wini

The best thing to do is send a personal message to one of the admin group or a moderator. If you are logged on you can see who else is logged on at the bottom of the page. If no mod or admin person is on the board send a personal message to someone you think may be up taking into account your time zone.

Hi Wini
We try to monitor the site 24/7 between all of the Mods and Admin, but obviously, sometimes there maybe no one online at the time you have spotted something. By all means send a PM to any of the mods or Admin who are online at the time as Anne suggested - the odds are they will already have spotted it and be working away to remove any objectionable material.

Visting a dodgy post will not in itself do any actual harm, but if you see a link in a post, especially from a new member who has not posted before, unless their post looks as if it is from a person genuinely interested in family history, I'd advise not clicking any link within those posts. We've had several recently which have led to dodgy web sites and one which deposited, as far as I remember, a trojan program onto your PC when clicked.
You would think people would have more to do with their time than maliciously sending mesages.
Yeah, I know, you would think so... but it seems some people have nothing better to do.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Wini:

It's good to get into the habit of checking incoming e-mail addresses before you open them. If you don't recognize the address, get them into your trash box. Being the nosey sort, it's hard for me to do, but I resist the temptation.

Hello Annette,

What a rotten time to be taken in to hospital.

Hope you're feeling better.

Thank you all once again,

I will take your advice, hopefully those lesser minds will go away when they see how promptly you deal with it
