Are these to be found anywhere on SP or are they at Kew also, so I would need to look there? There is no such category on the OPRs, so I assume they are not on SP... but maybe I am missing something?DavidWW wrote:If she was an official wife then births of children should appear in the regimental records.

Kew as far as I can recall ............... Nope, it's GRO, see http://www.findmypast.com/resources/ove ... talreg.jsp for the background.
Birth and Baptism, 1761-1924, Marriage records for 1786-1924 exist but, sadly I seem to recall that the records haven't survived for all regiments.

But I'm not a happy chappie, as I have a niggle at the back of my mind that I've read somewhere recently that these regimental records have been indexed ..................

It looked as though the births, anyway, were indexed on the findmypast site you gave me the link for-- no? Of course, they want you to pay £5 to buy credits to have a look. Haven't quite decided to do it yet, since nearly everything else on the site I already have on my ancestry subscription and I've been spending quite a bit lately on the OPRs...

On several reads and rereads of the 1837online site info, now known as Findmypast, as I was completely confused, even discombobulatedSarahND wrote:It's brilliant!DavidWW wrote:See TalkingScot, see the things that you find out

It seemed to allow a search here:
http://www.findmypast.com/OverseasStart ... archType=B
and then the results are... I don't know. It might be one of those indexes that give you the pages where the surname you want would be if it were there... but no guarantee it is. OR, it might be a real search and the names are there. Not sure.
