Many thanks to all of you who replied to me. I have now paid and downloaded all of the deaths and marriages certificates. My next question is how do i find any records of a coroners reports from the 1930's? as i have now found that one of the deaths has cause of death fractured skull? The death was in Edinbrough.Would there be anything about this death in the news papers and which one can i see on line?
We also know that after the wedding of Nicola he must have divorced because he remarried in england in the late 1940's. we know he had children to his second wife before they married in the late 1940's so suspect he was waiting for his first wife to divorce him, maybe?

Once again many thanks for your help every one

Hi Migby

See your email for an image of the Register of Corrected Entries entry in relation to this death.

The Scottish process was that such a death was referred to the Procurator Fiscal, and he reported back to the Registrar, with the details being entered in the RCE; where there was justification, then there would be a Fatal Accident Inquiry in the local Sheriff Court, but given the clear situation here involving a collision between a pedal cycle and a motor vehicle of some sort. There's never been such a thing as a coroner in Scotland...........

David
It looks as though they were specifying the type of vehicle involved.
I think it says Aero.....? and wondered if it was one of those three wheeled JAP twin cylindered delivery carts which were buzzing around Edinburgh at that time. So Aerocart would make sense.

Hi David,

I read it as:

Head and other injuries sustained through _____ while riding a pedal bicycle colliding with a motor dust cart.

All the best,

AndrewP

Could the last word on that second line be deceased?

sustained ?by the? deceased although I can't justify the "by the" part.
