Hi Dave
Although I found the copies of William and Georgina.s births I can find no mention them on any census! Did you?
I didn't look - was only trying to help you find things!
I suspect however, that the first William died young. Usually, but not always, this is the case if a later child is called the same name. Have you tried a death search for him and Georgina? There appears, from the free search on SP to be a death of a Georgina Crombie, born 1874, died 1876 in Eyemouth, Bewick so that would explain, if it is the same one, why you are not seeing her on a census.
The birth copy of Elisabeth 21/7/1865 gives the birth at 4pm!! (Maybe a case of 'Get me to the church on time') It also shows the marriage date as 21/7/1865.

Interesting! Must have been a busy and exhausting day!
Off now to contact Emanday, looks as if we have scored a bulls eye there.
Excellent! \:D/

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Dave,

I've sent you a message on GR with permission to access my tree.

You'll notice that one person is shown as Jane or Alice Crombie because of a possible informant's mistake. Hopefully you will be able to clarify that one for me.

I'm all excited [woohoo]

Hi Emanday,
Also sent this to GR
Had a good look at your tree. Your last message referred to the daughter of James 1832 & Agnes Collin as Alice?? Should this be JANE 1857-1935 who is shown to have married Alexander Landels?
You also have another Jane 1863 married to Alexander Thomson in the same family!!!
I looked for your name on your tree but never found it!! Was the James of 1832 your leg and if so where do you fit in it?
I don't have information other than the James 1832,ie; nothing on his sons and daughters.
I am hoping to get more information on his brother William 1841 which is the leg that my mum was from but very interested in his brothers & sisters.
Back now to soak up a bit more and see what will fit into my tree. My goodness, I thought I had a lot of names in my tree but you beat me hands down.

Hi Mary,
I have been checking again on the Alexander Landels that married one of the daughters of James Crombie and and have found a copy of a marriage Between Alexander Landels Born c1855 and Alison Crombie born c1857. on the 28/2/1880.
Her parents are shown as James and Agnes Crombie(nee Collins).
His parents are shown as William Landels and Isabella Landels(nee Craig).
Do you think your ALICE Crombie is this Alison??.
The 1881 census shows Alexander and Alison, married and living at High Street Eyemouth with two boarders Alexander aged 6 and Robert Crombie aged 8
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse things
Best wishes
Dave.
Ps. Hello to Jean

Hi Dave,

This is a very confusing set up I know, but the first Jane Crombie and the second Jane Crombie (Jane Collin Crombie) ARE sisters. I had put a wee note on Jane 1st's entry in GR that I though it might be that she either wasn't expected to survive or that they decided to change her name to Alison at a later date. She married as Alison, but her son named her as Alice on her DC.

I have both Jane Crombie and Jane Collin Crombie's BC's and the parent's marriage date on Jane C's BC is dead on - 15th March 1855 at Lamberton Toll, Berwick.

I know this double naming of children has been mentioned before on TS. Did you also know that their were TWO Robert Crombie's born to James and Agnes? One in May 1870 and the second in December 1871. I assumed that the first one died in infancy, but I've never looked for a DC for him. Maybe I should.

Believe me, this name thing had me really confused when I first got them!

Blimey, and I thought this was going to be a piece of cake building the tree  but I must admit it sure keeps the mind occupied.
I think I will call it a night and start again with a fresh head in the morning.
Thanks for all your help, sure there is plenty more that we can do for each other.
Take care, bye for now
Dave

It is a piece of cake - very heavily fruited cake with a fair bit of tipsy cake thrown in for good measure

By the way, if you think my tree is big, you should see the size of some of them! Mine is only a tiddler in comparison

Hi Mary
Had a good sleep, given it some more thought and what I plan to do for a while is to update the names on to my tree from yours for James Crombie 1832/Agnes Collin1834, their descendance.
Then concentrate on William Crombie 1841/Margaret Dougal 1839, the leg where my direct relations derive from and try to find living relations there.
They had 7 children:-
Williamina, my grandmother.
James 27/4/1872.
Margaret 2/9/1876.
Elizabeth 21/7/1865. Married Alexander-Brown.
Alice 13/1/1870. Traced living relation to 2007. (see my tree)
Isabella 29.5.1879
William 17/8.1884 (Father unknown!!)
So, if there is anyone else out there that can help me PLEASE let me know.
Thanks for your help Mary and Lesley
