Dear All
Have updated the parking information - see the announcement at the top of the page.
The programme for the day is pretty well organised, barring accidents ... and we hope to cover lots of the basics. We're planning a break around lunch time and folks can eat, chat and have coffee (there's a student common room on level 5 which we'll be able to use).
Before the break at lunch time, we plan to ask for topics that folks might want to cover during the questions later in the afternoon, and we hope that one of us will be able to help. Most of the information will be in the form of PowerPoint presentations, and so we'll be able to email these to all who can't make it. There will also be some paper-based info, but I hope to scan this after the event and so email to those not attending in person.
My sister has "volunteered" to collect the names of those attending on the day and also their email addresses and cash!
This is one of those ideas which seemed great while it was the dark days of November, but now it's getting closer ....
I think it might be a good idea to post a brief report of the day on TS when it's all over, and I hope that someone remembers to bring a digital camera so we can send photos to Marilyn!
I'd like to thank all who've helped with the organising and with suggestions for the day, and hope at we can at least answer some questions and provide some sources for people to try for themselves. It's not possible to solve the problem of searching for Irish ancestors in one day, but at least it might be a starting point ...
(Thanks to: Christine, Linda, Marie, David, Morag, me(!), TS admin folk for support, and not forgetting Marilyn - our banker in the USA), and the rest of you who've been encouraging us along with your posts.
See you on Saturday. If anyone urgently needs to contact me about Saturday, the best way is via my work email. See the contacts box on the University main web page.
Liz
PS - Don't make a mistake on Saturday and go to the other genealogy course which is running in the same building! Follow the TS signs!!
