Seems to me you´re all missing a lot by splitting concentration on two items at once.
The way to go is: read the book, keep an eye on the box (with subtitles of course, to miss no conversation) and enjoy some music on headphones at the same time.
A course in speed reading is also useful so you don´t get held up, and the digit on the page marks the place if your eyes stray too long to the screen.

Live life to the full.

Nutataw! My husband once tried to prove just that to me by switching the TV off and making me give him the book. He then asked about both the programme and the page I was on.

I'd missed nothing! He never did that again!

£9.99 + P&P might well end up as $22.50 ....................

Latest Update

I was just searcing www.amazon.com (US) for this title and here are the current prices listed: $22.50 - paperback and $74.75 - hardback. Both are pre-order price with a release date of March 6, 2007. With a $50.00 dollar difference I just may buy the paperback.

Hi All

I ordered this Book By Rosemary Bigwood from WalMart on Jan 5, 2007. It was supposed to be delivered Jan 28, 2007.
A few weeks later I was sent an e-mail telling me that the book wouldn't be released till March. I should have cancelled the order then, but at the time I couldn't see well enough to read much anyway and decided to wait till March. March came along and WalMart sent me another e-mail telling me the release date was now April 25,2007.
I sighed and decided to wait a little while longer. :x

Guess what happened today! I received another e-mail from WalMart telling me that there was another new release date: May 25, 2007!

That did it. I am sure that I am as patient as the next person, but that was too much. I cancelled the order and have placed another order with Amazon.com which I should have done as soon as WalMart sent me the e-mail delaying the first shipment of the book.

Has anyone else who ordered this book from WalMart had this problem?

The only reason for this message is to give me an opportunity to rant. [rant]

Ranting Regards

Sheila

After reading through the thread I feel a little left out and so will have to jump on the bandwagon. I have some Christmas money left and was looking around the Internet for some books to spend it on. Looks like I'l add this one to my order tonight- thought I'll have to tell my wife it was a fiver and hide the receipt when it comes.

I know I'm a bad boy but ignorance they say is bliss. :D

Hi Sheila,

At least they emailed you to let you know. I haven’t received my book either and didn’t hear anything from them so I emailed Wal-Mart on 15 April reminding them that they were supposed to ship the book by 30 March and received this reply…

“…The Scottish Family Tree Detective: Tracing Your Ancestors in Scotland has not yet shipped. Please be advised that as specified on the Walmart.com page, your item is being sold as a prerelease. The release date for this item is April 28, 2007. We will ship the item to you promptly after it has been released….”

I too was going to cancel my order with Wal-Mart and order from Amazon, but I’m still waiting for another four books I ordered from Amazon in February. Maybe I should just cancel all orders and ask my sister to bring them over when she comes in October…might be quicker! :)

Regards,
Anne

Hi Anne

Sometimes it seems that you can't win. What do they mean about prerelease? This book has been out since January! The reason that I decided to go with Amazon, is that so many people here have received this book from them. I think that Sarah received her book in N Dakota in January.

I am sorry that you haven't received your books from Amazon. I have bought other books from Amazon with no trouble. I will never order a book from WalMart again. Everytime that I thought that I was about to received it, instead I received the e-mail telling me that I would have to wait another month. Since you didn't even get an e-mail, I guess that you are right, I should be glad that I at least got that.

There I go off on another rant. [rant]

Hi Sheila,
Yes, I did receive it right away-- in fact, sooner than they estimated. I'd give up on WalMart :? You have every right to rant!

Sarah
