Thanks all, glad you enjoyed it! It absolutely was a tragic occurrence, but it was great to be able share it as a story.

Ina - it was a tad surreal as an experience. I used to work for the Beeb, and used to interview other people for history documentaries, so this was definitely the shoe on the other foot time - now I know what I was putting people through for all those years...! lol

Only kidding, the presenter Claire was absolutely brilliant, and it was actually a very relaxed interview. The funny part was when she asked me to read out the autopsy of Janet. You'll notice that the music rises shortly after I start, and then fades to allow you to hear me finish it off. There was a very good reason for that - it got very gory!!! I'll check out your site when I get home from work this evening. Maybe I'll solve the mystery for you LOL. My son is a detective and he says he says his detectives genes come from me

Thanks Ina - if you manage to narrow down the likely suspect he should be easy enough to corner - he'll be the guy in his 150s, so I doubt you'll get much resistance!

Andrew Eadie and Claire meet Dr Irene O’Brien at the Mitchell library in Glasgow where they consult Lloyds Register of Shipping containing a mention of Andrew’s ancestor whose ship was involved in the evacuation of refugees during the Mexican Revolution!

My ancestor was a bookbinder…
We go behind the scenes in the conservation room at The National Archives of Scotland to examine the materials and tools that would have been used by 19th century bookbinders in Edinburgh. Kate Steel gets an interesting insight into what life would have been like for her ancestors in the trade.

Glasgow Police Museum….
A trip to the Glasgow Police Museum where Irvine Brookes ancestor’s working days as a police superintendent are brought to life.

Another very interesting programme although another murder or two wouldn’t have gone astray.

Another very interesting edition, especially as my ancestor was a bookbinder - although one with a somewhat more 'colourful' story. 'Aristocracy of the labour force' hmmmm.....

Hello Scooter,

I finally got around to listening to this week’s programme. It was very interesting as usual. Your ancestor’s would be a good story for a future series. Maybe they’ll come knocking one day. But be careful, you know what Video did to the Radio Star.
