Hi Robbie

I have received some photos from my cousin which he took yesterday of Tighmonadh. He could only take the photos from the road but I think that the house is the same one. I have posted the photos on to TS let me know what you think.

Best Wishes

Margaret

Thank you Margaret. You are great. NOW how do I see them/
ALSO I was going through Mother's album last night and found one of HER Birth house. It is 'ELDERSLEA' and I presume it is in the same area as it has Lenzie after it...I will RY and put one here.. andmaybe you will know it too.
My Grand father Wm.Baillie Hair was a House Factor and by what this says had a farm. There are photos of a long drive to a house, also what looks to be a glassed in summerhouse, The garden is quite large and has a flag pole.
One of the Family standing by a big urn and also a concrete? roaring lion with G/Father's dog sitting up beside it.. Looks to be a terrier of some description. There are also photos of Highland cattle with G/father standing beside some of them. So it must have been quite a large farm !??? Now I will TRY and put up the photo for you ! Same place as other as that's what I know. !!! [/img]

I found an Argyle and Bute local plan which shows the house and the extent of the ground it sits in.

http://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/localplan ... %20152.pdf

If you look at the top left hand corner of the document there is a reference printed on it AFA 3/5 - the house is to the right of that.

It seems I have posted the last one twice - mistake from an old head. My apologies.
Margaret the photos are wonderful and Thank you very much to you both  . It amazes me that it is still a grand house, standing after all these years as it must be well over 100 yrs old..
Thank you again.
I posted the one I found of MY MOTHER's BIRTH house in Lenzie- same place as last one I'm afraid ! I can see I WILL have to find some way to return to Scotland. It is really grabbing me !I wold just love to actually see.... Dreams are free they tell me !
Again Thank you and your brother very much :P

Hi Robbie

Tigmonadh must be over 130 years old. As your G Grandmother was at this house on the 1881 census which is 127 years ago.

Does anyone know how to find out how old a house is?

Elderslie is a small town in Renfrewshire about 20 miles from Lenzie.

What was your mothers first name?

Regards Margaret

A VERY BIG THANK YOU to all for your help with the photo at Cardros. Opps that spelling doesn't look right - but you know what I mean !
It has turned out trumps.
Now maybe someone will know of the Birth place of Mother at Lenzie. Here is hoping.
Thank you again all of you who helped, and mainly Margaret for the photo and address :D
