Effy may have been a sister of Helen's and they happened to either be bringing him up or else he was just staying in the house that night.

Perhaps his death certificate wil tell you that Misty. It 'should' have all his wives names IF they were known to whoever registered his death.

Hello Jan,

There is a Lachlan Grant, aged 84 years a fisherman, living with his son Donald Grant, aged 50 years, and family in Kilbride, Strath, Inverness.

There is also a death on Scotlandspeople for a 95 year old Lachlan Grant, 1898, in Inverness, i dont know if this Lachlan, is yours, his age on the death is slightly out going by 1881 census, but its maybe worth a peep at this death certificate just to clarify if hes your Lachlan.

Regards,
Jonn.

I just can't fine that one

Hi Jan,
I just gave it a try and he was right there:

Surname: grant
Forename: lachlan
Year Range: 1898 To 1898
Birth Year:1803

Not sure why it isn't coming up for you :(

All the best,
Sarah
