Hi Jenny
Will just post all the ones with relevant surnames as something may just help. There are another 2 cemetaries in Linlithgow, the older one at St Michaels church and another one which is more recent but I dont know its name. Maybe someone reading this will tell you its name, but its near the school almost behind the main road going into town.

Thanks Lainey!
The White/Boyd one hits gold. (Pity about the missing bits, but that's all in the game.)
It may be Margaret Young rather than Janet Young - or the OPR info I have may have been very difficult to read when transcribed, as I haven't seen the record of the marriage. But George Boyd, born in 1773, and his wife xxx Young had at least eight children, of whom Marion, the eldest, married James Whyte. After that there are various George Whites and George Boyds.
There seems to be a line repeated (about dying in 1839 aged 66, which is of course absolutely right for my George Boyd).
I have Scots as well so will have to pursue all the connections to see what else from these names fits.
Which cemetary is this one? I have the MIs from St Michael's, and some of the McCullochs are there and another White.
I will post what I have about the Muiravonside/Linlithgow Bridge connections later, in case they ring a bell with other people.

muiravonside mis
Hi Jenny
These were from muiravonside cemetery. There is a good chance that the children would be buried there too but maybe later graves than the transcriptions go to. I will have a look as I have quite alot of photos from there and let you know if there are any that have these names. Unfortunately we dont share family names so there is a chance I will not have taken photos!
Will check and see and come back to you. I also have some from L'gow so will have a look through them too.

Yes - the Bowie line is a 'branch' via Mary Ann Stewart who was a granddaughter of William Fisher and Mary McCulloch who ran the Bridge Inn at Linlithgow Bridge from around 1813 to the mid 19th c. Their dau. Ann Fisher married Robert Stewart, and in turn ran the inn for a bit. This is the other side from the Whyte connection.
I'm really looking back rather than forward, though. My line of Fishers (etc.) left Muiravonside/Linlithgow in the mid 19th c. Before that there are lots of connections, including Binning or Binnie, Devie, Scot, Young, Grey, Richie, Robb and hosts more. Some link to Slamannan and Bo'ness. I'll make a separate thread for this and post what I can!

Jenny, you mentioned Binnie from Muiravonside.jennyblain wrote: My line of Fishers (etc.) left Muiravonside/Linlithgow in the mid 19th c. That is/was a very common surname around these parts but has several variations:
Binnie, Binney, Binny, Bennie, Benny and to my great surprise - Bennet !
The furthest back I have is :
George Bennie & Isabella Wyper
sons George & John born ~1803 & ~1811.
mainly Coalminers .
If that means anything, drop me a Private Message as I'm rarely on Talking Scot nowadays, the demands of the current generation are outweighing the previous ones

I wonder if I could be a wee bit cheekyIn that book, is there an inscription for an Elizabeth Hardie married to John Spence? I have looked at Polmont alot of times but could just be missing it. I think johns death was about 1845 and Elizabeth about the same. They def lived in the Polmont areas and I was given these dates, but need a wee bit more proof!
Many thanks regardless
Lainey
The mention of HARDIES just didn't click when I first read this post. My interest was the ROBERTS and STIRLING/RUSSELL families. However I have just had an e-mail from a "cousin" which made me take another look at that side of our tree.
We have a Janet HARDIE, born Polmont circa 1737, married to John Stirling in Polmont. Her parents may be James HARDY and Sarah SPENCE born 1700, Falkirk. Does that ring any bells for anyone?
Anne, .I did wonder if Janet HARDY might be in the MI book? No idea of her date of death, except it would have been after 1774.
Best wishes

hardie and spence
Hi Catriona
Checked the muiravonside book and there is no mention of a Sarah Hardie. Strangely though in my own tree as I mentioned I have John Spence and Elizabeth Hardie....I also have Thomas Spence and Margaret Hardie. I will be able to get Margarets death cert on SP [I hope!] and will come back if the names look similar. Quite strange though to have so many with the same surnames marrying!
