The EEN was always the poor relation of the Scotsman. There was/is even a class divide in the Death notices. Nobody who was anyone would be seen dead in the Evening News.

Is it Redlands Hospital for Women at 703 Great Western Road, Kelvinside? Did a search but didn't find any hits (excuse the awful pun) in the digitised newspapers.

Yes it was.
I can't validate the story that I was told as I can't find any reports for that week in April.
I was told that the snow fall was bad that year.
I wondered where they evacuated all the Mothers and Babies to for safety.
