Hi again Jack, and thanks for your further help. With the information kindly supplied by yourself, Jean and Joette, i have certainly made progress. It would indeed seem that the family Jean first mentioned from the 1881 census are my ancestors,(just a name variant), on the marriage certificate of Mary(to Robert in 1873) her address was given as 16 Clydebank Terrace, so it all fits!They must have moved there after 1873, as her birthplace as given on her b/c is Queen Street, Govan. After she married she continued to work as a French Polisher. They must have then moved to Somerville Street after they married as that is where my grandfather was born. I might never have found them without all you help. Thanks!!
