Your post falls into the "gonna nae dae that without at least a wee bit of warning" class of category........... at least the coffee only hit the screen and not the keyboard  Quite brilliant :!: , - I'll assume that I can circulate this further :?:

National Anthem

Dfinitely "flower of the Forest"

Even if the Rugby Team don't win the game I know I'll get enjoyment from the Anthem.

Whose idea was it to let politicians decide?
Half of them don't know the day of the week.

Fancy anyone suggesting the Kiwi's change the Haka
I bet no one even knows their Nationl Anthem. Apolgies to my Kiwi friends.

I should also have said the Australian Anthem is atrocious, chosen in a Referendum I think if I remember correctly.

I suppose the only thing you could say about it the words were written by a Scot

I love to sing "Flower of Scotland" & I know all the words but what really stirs my Scottish blood is "Scots wha hae"& I know most of the words.
Numero ono though has to be "A Man's a Man" & too political!!!???Sorry thought that was the whole point of a National Anthem???
I have to admit to loving "Jersulaem" & it can have me sobbing into my hanky.
What really riles me is when the English play as their National Anthem "God Save the Queen"."Get your own" is usually my cry at the telly.

Good discussion. I think I fancy "A Man's a man for a that", politically incorrect version please despite being pleased to call myself a feminist.

Jim M that was hysterical. I am honoured to call you my fourth cousin or whatever!

What about Andy Stuarts 'There was a soldier a Scottish soldier' it does not bash anyone but reminds us all of home.

Much prefer "Donald Wher's yer Troosers"

I live next to Hampden and hate Flower of Scotland and every other dirge they can come up with.
I really enjoyed Jim's post, but have to disagree with

Scotland the brave....... no-one could remember the words
Every person that travels to Mount Flo to watch ther' National team play, knows the words well. I have listend to them often and even I ken them by heart noo.

Hark, when the night is falling
Hear, hear the pipes are calling
Loudly and proudly calling
Down through the Glen.
Da da dad da dum da da dad da
Da da dad dum.
Dad ra dad de da
Auld highlan’ men

Towering in gallant fame
Scotland my mountain hame
Da da re da da dum de
Dada dada
Dum deeedle dum de da
Dum dee de de dum
Dee deed de dad da
Scotland the Brave

Oh Mammy Daddy, gies a brek
