Hi Sarah
It's wonderful how a "simple" matter of deciphering the closing formula in a letter can lead in so many fascinating directions!
But your letter is the sort of thing which catches the imaginations of family historians - a little window into a life, a chance to see the "real" people behind the dates... a fortunate opportunity to understand, or at least get a glimpse into the "whys", the reasons behind the actions ...a letter is one of the few valuable opportunitues to view the people from the past as living, breathing three dimensional characters....

And it is so refreshing to find other people who are just as fascinated by all this as I am!
